Missions and projects

The missions are inspiring and concrete challenges capable of mobilising the entire productive ecosystem of the city.

The missions will revolve around 5 strategic axes linked to the Smart Tourism Destination: governance, innovation, technology, universal accessibility and sustainability in its three aspects: sociocultural, economic and environmental.

Sharing knowledge and data

  • Sharing knowledge and data between public bodies for the best use of resources.
  • Sharing scientific knowledge and tourism data for the analysis of specific urban cases.

Density and sustainability of the model

  • Mitigate the negative effects of increased flows or tourist concentration.
  • Defining carrying capacities and directing flows towards other areas with tourist attractions or planning routes contribute to improving the quality of life of local citizens and the tourist’s own experience.
  • Measure and limit as much as possible the negative impacts that tourism development generates on the environment, local ecosystems and biodiversity.
  • Monitor and understand how to integrate tourism’s contribution to the ecological footprint to promote policies aligned with the SDGs.

Overall summary indicator of tourism activity

This collaboration project between CONTURSA (CONGRESOS Y TURISMO DE SEVILLA, S.A.) and the Pablo de Olavide University is a methodological initiative aimed at defining an integral synthetic indicator of the tourism situation, whose periodic updating will provide an overall view of the evolution of tourism activity in the city of Seville.

Analysis of residents’ and tourists’ interactions with tourism activities in the destination

Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to analyse the interactions and behaviours of residents and tourists for the city’s tourism activities.

Analysis of the supply and demand of accommodation in Seville

Application of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to analyse the interactions and behaviour of the supply of tourist establishments in the destination in the face of changes in the variables that affect decision-making.

Designing a sustainability index for sustainable urban tourism

Design of an index to measure tourism sustainability in all its dimensions: economic, social and environmental. Through the use of data, 18 indicators grouped into 6 thematic areas will be worked on: perception of the destination, diversification of origin, temporal, territorial, motivational and level of expenditure.

Urban projects with scientific knowledge and data exchange

Sevilla City Office and the Chair in Intelligent Tourism of the University of Seville jointly develop projects for the exchange of scientific knowledge and data for specific urban cases.

Tourism Intelligence System

SIT collects, transforms, analyses and visualises global data and makes it available to the local tourism sector. Its mission is to improve strategic planning processes with predictive and diagnostic analyses. Integration, analysis and foresight.

Environmental sustainability

It will also contribute to the integration of tourism into the ecological footprint to promote policies aligned with the ODS.

Economic sustainability

The analysis of tourism activity, through urban innovation, will allow the development of more economically efficient tourism models.

Social sustainability

The office will work to control the density and sustainability of the model, mitigating the effects of increased flows or concentration of tourism activity.

Project on tourist density and flows in the Santa Cruz neighbourhood

A common city project that integrates residents and visitors with a triple objective of sustainability: social, economic and environmental.

Joint data projects

Sevilla City Office and Smart Data (Datos Turismo Andalucía) jointly develop data collaboration projects that generate synergies within the Andalusian territory (working groups, data, analysis, projects).
